What the difference between lossy and lossless compression?

The usual suspect for optimizing in a Webflow site are CMS images as they can be optimized at scale and usually multiple people end up adding content in your CMS.

Pixie allows two options for you to select from

Lossy(Recommended)

Lossy is an intelligent optimization that typically saves if at least 60% of the file weight. It is specifically designed to produce images of quality that should be on your website. We strive to make sure the quality is never of unacceptable quality. In most cases, you will not be able to visually differentiate the optimized image from the original.

‍Lossless

This particular mode will save as much file weight as possible without altering any pixel. You should use this mode when the image should retain all of its initial visual information - like for sensitive brand and marketing visuals.
